Week Three has some underrated matchups , with some big time games sprinkled in between. Here are our picks!
#1 Alabama @ #11 Florida
Ralph- The Tide won this game last year after almost losing the lead late, that won’t happen this weekend. Florida hasn’t figured out the QB situation yet, which will lead to a stressful day for Dan Mullen. Alabama 42, Florida 20
Will- Nick Saban has had a lot to say about his team’s “poor” performances this season. I’m not buying that rat poison. Regardless of who Florida plays at quarterback, Alabama wins this game big and controls throughout. Alabama 41, Florida 28.
John- On paper, this looks like the most competitive game this Saturday. But It appears the Gators starting quarterback position is a toss up. And I believe that’s what Alabama’s defense will do this weekend. Toss around the quarterback, the running backs and probably a couple of guys sitting on the bench! Bama wins in the Swamp, 38 - 20!
#22 Auburn @ #10 Penn State
Ralph- A dogfight in Happy Valley will rely on who wins the trenches! Auburn will need to establish the run game early to help Bo be comfortable in the pocket. Penn State cannot let their crowd go silent or it will be all Tigers. Auburn 24 PSU 18.
Will- Auburn has handled Akron and Alabama State like a team of their caliber should. Utter dominance. Penn State has not impressed me, especially on offense. I think they lucked out against Wisconsin. This comes down to who has fewer turnovers. Auburn 31, Penn State 27.
John- Is Auburn for real? Is Penn State just a lucky team? Can the Tigers take on the White Out? Which quarterback will step up? Home field advantage may win this one. Nittany Lions in a close one, 23-21!
Michigan State @ #24 Miami
Ralph- Miami has not shown me enough for them to be in the top 25 and this is another test for them. Michigan States running game could cause problems for the U. Michigan State 23 Miami 14
Will- Miami avoided a huge letdown against Appalachian State. It was a classic trap game for the Canes. I love Rhett Lashlee, and I think he’ll cook up a good game plan on offense to take down Mel Tucker’s Spartans. Miami 34, Michigan State 24.
John- The Hurricanes probably aren’t the #24 team in the country, especially looking at their first 2 games. Sparty will keep it close, but Miami’s D will be enough. Hurricanes win 25-17.
#19 Arizona State @ #23 BYU
Ralph- BYU is now under a new era at QB and will be relying on the pass game to win. Jayden Daniels is still an electric QB and will be looking to knock off BYU’s recent dominance. BYU 45, ASU 38.
Will- BYU is coming off their first Holy War win in 9 seasons. Arizona State is full of distractions stemming from NCAA investigations. I think this BYU team is better than 2020 after lost Zach Wilson to the NFL. BYU 37, Arizona State 28.
John- BYU has already beat 2 Pac 12 opponents, but the Sun Devils running game by committee will be too much! ASU wins 30-24!
