So what should fans make of Dylan Raiola visiting Georgia Tech?
Jackets host 2024's best quarterback on Friday
As spring practice is still in its early stages, Georgia Tech is hosting some top talent this weekend. First let’s start with the obvious. Yes, Dylan Raiola was on campus and yes this is a courtesy visit.
New offensive coordinator Buster Faulkner had a prior relationship with Raiola and his family before the move to Atlanta. This visit is a courtesy to Faulkner and shows the respect that he has for the new Jackets offensive coordinator as he and his family make their way to Athens.
But, here’s the kicker. Not all is lost on this visit. It does show that Georgia Tech now has staff that garners respect from some of the nation’s top players. Credit to Brent Key for assembling such a staff. That couldn’t be said regarding the previous regime.
With some consistent success, can Georgia Tech get these visitors for real? Why not. The Jackets have a well-respected staff that includes several staffers that have been a part of championship-level teams.
If Brent Key finds success and is able to set a standard of excellence, then top players won’t be just stopping through Atlanta on their way to somewhere else.
Other Notes
As for others, new commit Duke Watson is on campus and I see him being a guy that tries to act as a leader along with quarterback commit Jahkari Williams in this class.
High-profile recruit Kylan Fox is on campus, but I don’t know how serious Georgia Tech is in the mix for his commitment. Yes, the local pipeline is there. But with national powers calling, the Jackets seem to be a longshot.
