Recruiting Spotlight: KD Hutchinson
With his combination of speed, athleticism and vision, KD Hutchinson is enjoying a breakout junior season
Speed, elusiveness, vision, and the determination. That is how you describe KD Hutchinson. The elite level running back from Harris County high school has turned some heads this year as the Tigers number one running back. The Crowded Booth was in attendance in KD’s last game against Northside where he was making players miss left and right.
I wanted to know how KD’s recruiting has been going so far this year as a junior with so much talent.
“Well the recruiting process can be really frustrating as an athlete, but it doesn’t do anything but push me harder and help me to stay humble”
Since Hutchinson is a junior, he has taken on the role as a leader in the Tiger’s huddle.
“I mean just being a leader you know anybody can tell someone what to do, but leading by example and you know just doing the right thing. Because, if they see Me do what I want then it just brings a indicator that they Can just do it they want. I emphasize that you can teach XO offense and defensive plays and coverages but hard work dedication desire determination discipline can’t be taught these are the things that’s personal these things sets aside a ball game from a championship”
Having transferred from Valley this past year., Hutchinson described the emotions of walking into a brand-new locker room.
“I came to Harris County and decided that this team wasn’t going to be that mediocre . We have a motto that says “11 soldiers”. Hutchinson said. “It means that I play for you, you play for me”
With COVID-19 limiting visits and affecting recruiting, we asked KD how the pandemic has affected him this year.
“I mean right now it’s kind of hard, but I’m just talking to coaches. I’m really focusing on the team because,” Hutchinson said.
“However, after football season I ill start to look for scholarships and offers, but right now just keep playing ball.”
With the 2020 year winding down and playoffs upon us, Hutchinson named different things he is looking forward to working on in the offseason.
“I mean my strengths are being flexible. I like being able to move all around the field. In the offseason, I put in a ton of work so when games come I’ve simulated almost everything that could possibly happen in a game.
When he transferred to Harris County, Hutchinson noted the different style of play in Georgia.
“When I made the jump from Alabama to Georgia it was completely different,” Hutchinson said. “So I really have to learn to kick it into that next gear to get to the endzone.”
