Newest commit Jordan Boyd details why Georgia Tech was the right fit
Jackets land an impact three-star linebacker in the 2024 class
Last week, Georgia Tech dipped into the state of South Carolina for it’s latest commitment in linebacker Jordan Boyd. The 247Sports three-star announced his commitment back on March 19th, picking the Jackets over offers from Georgia Southern, Charlotte, Liberty and Troy among others.
Boyd took some time to talk with The Crowded Booth about his commitment and immediately cited the connection with Brent Key and the Yellow Jacket coaching staff.
“Coach (Marco) Coleman has been the main guy for me through this process,” Boyd said. “ It started with Coach Knight, but then when Coach Coleman came in things really started to pick up. He’s a great guy to learn from and I believe he can help me get to the next level. “
Boyd projects as an outside linebacker at the college level, but said that he isn’t afraid to put his hand in the dirt. The Tech coaching staff sees it that way as well.
“Coaches say they love my speed off the edge, so I can stand up as that edge rusher or I can play down on the line,” Boyd said. “I want to continue to develop that speed as I try and become more polished defending against the pass.”
Boyd said that he will join forces with the other 2024 commits and plans to pitch the same vision that Coach Key pitched to him.
“He is just adamant about building up this team here,” Boyd said. “He loves this place and that shows in how passionate he is in wanting to turn Tech back into a winner.”
