Even in a year that held a lot of uncertainties, dynamic athlete Jordan Moultrie enjoyed a breakout season.
Starring for a talented Hardaway team, Moultrie electrified the Hawks offense each Friday night, but what led to the rising junior’s amazing season?
“Before the season, I was determined to make an impact for this season and make it a special year for this team,” Moultrie said.
Moultrie saw an uptick in production last fall, amassing 1,325 total yards and 8.7 yards per carry. However, Moultrie will take that production across the river as he announced his transfer to Central-Phenix City (AL).
The Red Devils have a track record of sending players to the next level. You don’t have to look far as former Phenix City star Javion Cohen won a national championship with Alabama. It took a lot of conversation, but Moultrie felt that this move gave him the best option to go to the next level.
“Talking with the coaches over there and just seeing from afar who they send and where, it was a no-brainer,” Moultrie told The Crowded Booth.
So which schools have jumped on the Jordan Moultrie train? Division II powerhouse Valdosta State entered the mix first with an offer.
Since then, West Georgia (DII), Mercer (FCS) have shown interest. However, Moultrie has also garnered the attention of DI programs such as Kentucky, Troy, East Carolina and Penn State. While still very early in the process and the NCAA dead period extended until April, Moultrie feels confident that the right fit will come.
“The process is even more interesting with the virus shutting visits down, but I am hearing good things for coaches,” Moultrie said. “But, I know that things will fall into place.”
The future for Moultrie is bright as the game shifts towards running backs that can make an impact in both the run and passing game. As the offseason progresses and we grow closer to the 2021 season, don’t be surprised to see more offers come Moultrie’s way.
