Georgia Tech WR Leo Blackburn set to hit the transfer portal
Blackburn announced via X that he would enter the portal on Monday.
Georgia Tech reserve wideout Leo Blackburn announced his intentions to enter the transfer portal on Monday.
Mired by injuries, Blackburn struggled to find the field during his time in Atlanta.
As a recruit, he was rated as a three-star prospect by Rivals, 247Sports, and ESPN … Classified as a tight end on recruiting profiles, he was tabbed as the No. 18-ranked tight end in the nation and the No. 33-ranked player in the state of Georgia by Rivals. He had 50-plus catches for more than 1,000 yards and ten touchdowns as a senior and helped lead Westlake to an 11-2 overall record and the semifinals of the Georgia 6-A state playoffs as a senior in 2020. As a junior, Blackburn led Westlake to a first-place finish in Georgia 7-A Region 2 and registered more than 70 receptions, 1,300 receiving yards and ten touchdowns during his prep career.
What is the transfer portal?
The NCAA student-athlete transfer portal launched in 2018. It marked a change from when student-athletes had to get a release from one school to transfer to another and they could be limited as to where they transferred. The portal allows student-athletes to simply notify their current school and its compliance department that they intend to move on to another program. Entering the transfer portal does not mean a prospect has to transfer, it just means they can be recruited by other programs and take visits.
