Jackets expected to hire coaching veteran to lead special teams
Per a report from On3’s Matt Zentiz, Georgia Tech is expected to hire FIU’s Ricky Brumfield as its next special teams coordinator. The hire could be made official as early as this week, but as we have seen nothing is official until the dotted line is signed.

Brumfield arrived in South Florida following a four-year stint as the special teams coordinator and tight ends coach at Virginia under then-head coach Bronco Mendenhall. He boasts over 22 years of collegiate coaching experience and has consistently overseen record-breaking performances at all levels of college football.
He has coached players who have gone on to finish as semifinalists for awards such as the Lou Groza Award and the Ray Guy Award. His 2019 UVA squad broke the single-season record for both kick return yards (1,204) and kick return average (28.7).
During his one season at FIU, Brumfield served as the assistant head coach and outside linebackers in addition to his duties as the special teams coordinator.
