The Jackets shore up the defensive front with the latest addition
Georgia Tech added to its defensive line on Thursday, as former UTSA defensive end Ronald Triplette announced his commitment via social media.
After transferring from Kansas State to UTSA, Triplette spent three seasons in San Antonio. The six-foot-2, 250 defensive lineman graded out at an 87.4 overall defensively in 318 total snaps.

In 2022. Triplette appeared in all 14 contests and registered 18 total tackles, eight solo stops, 0.5 sacks, two quarterback hurries and a pass breakup … posted six tackles, including a half-sack, in the 52-24 win over Texas Southern … made a pair of stops and broke up a pass in the 41-7 victory at Rice … also recorded two tackles in wins against WKU, Louisiana Tech, and UTEP. What is the transfer portal?
The NCAA student-athlete transfer portal was launched in 2018. It marked a change from when student-athletes had to get a release from one school to transfer to another and could be limited to where they transferred. The portal allows student-athletes to notify their current school and its compliance department that they intend to move on to another program. Entering the transfer portal does not mean a prospect has to transfer, it just means they can be recruited by other programs and take visits.
The window for undergraduate players to enter runs from Dec. 9 through Dec. 28. But those dates could be different for some—any player on a team who has a coach fired or leaves has a 30-day window to enter the transfer porta.
The spring window in April will remain, as the portal will only be 10 days long. The timeframe will last from April 16, 2025, to April 25, 2025, when it will shut down.
The inaugural 12-team College Football Playoff will extend the postseason. After the portal closes in January, players on teams that will compete in the College Football Playoff and later bowl games will be allowed to enter an additional five-day transfer portal window.
